Last weekend I took a few photos of Snoqualmie Falls while staying at Salish Lodge. The weather was gray, the clouds lifeless. The photos didn’t come out half bad, all things considered, but then I decided today to process a few with the Acros film emulsion.
Suddenly the photos came to life.
The falls spring out of the compositions almost 3-dimensionally from the background. The previously gray skies reveal new definition and layers missing in the Velvia processed images. To me, processing in Acros with a green filter helped to push back the foliage without losing contrast or definition yet pulls forward the white of the water rushing over the falls.
The sky has more drama while your eyes are still pulled to the falls. What do you think?
