Adapting GFX: Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4 Art

Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4 Art and TechArt Pro adapter on Fujifilm GFX 50S

This is the first in a series of posts on individual lenses adapted to the Fujifilm GFX 50S with the TechArt Pro EF-GFX adapter.

Firmware status:

Fujifilm GFX 50S, v3.30 (latest)

TechArt Pro EF-GFX, v1.01 (latest)

Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4 Art, v2.02 (latest)

Summary:

Full electronic compatibility: autofocus and EXIF OK.

This lens shows a correctable vignette throughout the widest part of the aperture range and is affected somewhat by focus breathing. You’ll find the vignette becomes slightly more pronounced as you focus further away. As the aperture shrinks, the vignette dissipates, mostly disappearing by ƒ/2 and is seemingly unaffected by focusing at ƒ/8. It should be easily corrected to maintain the full 51MP resolution at any aperture.

Image samples (Ignore the uneven lighting. Light source was on the left in images):
